Pull Up a Chair: Listening Together at the Cathedral

Cathedrals have high ceilings and long histories. But the heart of any cathedral beats at ground level—where real people gather, ask real questions, and share what matters most. That’s where I’d like to begin.

As your new Provost, I don’t just want to preach from the pulpit or sign letters at the bottom of the page. I want to listen—to you. I want to hear what’s been meaningful and what’s been hard. What you cherish, and what you wonder about. What you long to see come alive here at the Cathedral. This community has weathered a lot in recent years. But I believe something beautiful is still unfolding. And I believe it begins, not with strategy or programming, but with honest conversation.

So I’m inviting you to a Listening Session—something more like a fireside chat than a formal meeting. Come as you are. Bring your questions, your ideas, your frustrations, your stories. Tell me what’s been giving you hope. Tell me what you think needs to change. Or just sit and listen to others if that’s what feels right.

I’ve chosen a variety of days and times because I want this to be truly accessible. My goal is simple: I want every voice that wants to be heard… to be heard.

If you’ve ever wondered whether your perspective matters—please know: it does. And I’m ready to listen.
