Welcome to Fr. Ted Clarkson

On December 1, we’ll welcome our new canon vicar, the Rev. Ted Clarkson. He comes to us from the Church of the Transfiguration (“the Fig”) in Dallas, where he served as curate (2021-23) and associate rector (2023-present). His first Sunday is December 7.

Ted is a graduate of Southern Methodist University, where he majored in vocal performance, and the School of Theology at the University of the South (Sewanee). He and his husband, Michael (“Mikey”) Whitman, look forward to meeting us and participating fully in the life of the Cathedral.

Ted’s new email, tclarkson@spcathedral.com, will go live on November 17. Please reach out to introduce yourself and welcome him to St. Peter’s.

Welcome “Pounding” for Fr. Ted and Mikey

In the spirit of Southern hospitality and Episcopal warmth, we’re holding a “pounding” to welcome the Rev. Ted Clarkson and his husband, Mikey, as they settle into their new home here in St. Petersburg.

Traditionally, a pounding was a way for a parish to help new clergy “set up house,” with each household bringing a pound (or package) of pantry staples of basic supplies. Think flour, sugar, coffee, cleaning products - those everyday essentials that turn a house into a home.

Please take a moment to sign up below for one or more items from the list. All contributions can be dropped off in the parish hall by Monday, November 24. Together, we’ll stock their shelves, fill their cupboards, and surround Fr. Ted and Mikey with the warmth of this community that is so ready to welcome them home.
