Worship at the Cathedral

Worship is at the heart of the Cathedral Church of St. Peter.
God brings us together, prayer centers us, and worship reminds us that we are God’s beloved. Worship is an open invitation to all to explore the unique call from Jesus to come and follow him.

Services are also available via live-stream on the Cathedral’s Facebook page.

Holy Eucharist Rite I | Sunday at 8:00 am

A close-knit community meets in St. Mary’s Chapel, for a traditional liturgy without music. The service is quiet and meditative.

Holy Eucharist Rite II | Sunday at 10:15 am

The 10:15 am Eucharist presents the full beauty of our liturgy, with music, prayers, and sermons. In addition to scripture lessons, this service includes a sung psalm. During this service, we also offer a special Children’s Chapel for children ages 4 through 2nd grade and nursery for babies through age 4.

Midweek Holy Eucharist + Healing Service
Wednesdays at 12:05 pm

A faithful community gathers for this brief mid-week service with scripture, prayers, and a brief homily. All are invited to come to the altar for healing prayers and anointing with oil. Midweek Eucharist provides a meditative respite in the midst of the busyness of life.

Choral Evensong | February 23 at 5:00 pm, organ prelude at 4:45 pm

Our service of Choral Evensong at 5 pm on Sunday, February 23, celebrates the Feast of St. Matthias the Apostle. The service is Howells in B minor. Written for the Golden Jubilee of the formation of the Church Music Society and first performed at Evensong in Westminster Abbey on May 17, 1956, the piece was re-issued in 1992, in honor of the centenary of the composer’s birth.

Herbert Howells (1892-1983) was an English composer and teacher best known for his sacred choral work. The Collegium Regale setting (1944-45), the “Gloucester” service (1946), and the “St. Paul’s service” (1951) are thought to be the greatest contributions to Anglican church music in the 20th century. Howells is also familiar as the composer of the hymn tune for “All My Hope on God Is Founded” (Hymn 665 in the Hymnal 1982).

Music director Dwight Thomas will present an organ prelude, at 4:45 pm, featuring the music of Jean Langlais. The Cathedral Chamber Choir sings. A freewill offering is taken, and a reception follows.
