Our service of Choral Evensong at 5 pm Sunday, April 23 — the Third Sunday of Easter — will offer the “Jesus College” service by William Mathias. This is the last in our 2022-23 series of choral evensongs, which we offer from September through April except December.

Mathias (1934-1992) was a Welsh composer noted for his choral works. A child prodigy, he began playing the piano at age three and composing at age five. His most famous work is likely the anthem Let the people praise Thee, O God, written for the July 1981 marriage of the Prince and Princess of Wales.

The Cathedral Chamber Choir will sing. Canon for Music and Precentor Dwight Thomas is director and organist and will perform an organ prelude at 4:45 p.m. A freewill offering is taken, and a reception follows.
