Candlelight Baroque

Start the Christmas season at 7 pm December 2 when the Master Chorale’s new chamber ensemble, MC Voices, joins with St. Pete Baroque in a concert called “Candlelight Baroque,” when they will sing and play music of the season on period instruments at the Cathedral.

This is a first-time outing for MC Voices, and its first time rendering early music with authentic instruments. St. Pete Baroque won an enthusiastic following at its January concert at the Cathedral. They perform the music of the period (1600- 1750) on instruments including harpsichord, lute, viola da gamba, viola d’amore, and baroque winds. The program includes Sussex Carol, arranged by John Rutter; Bach’s Nun komm der heiden Heiland (BWV 61); Praetorius’s Lo how a rose; Coventry Carol, arranged by Burke; Infant holy, infant lowly; Vivaldi’s Magnificat, and Gruber’s Silent Night.

Tickets ($30) can be purchased at www.masterchorale.com or at the door.
