Neighborhood Groups at the Cathedral Church of St. Peter
Neighborhood Groups:
Where Faith Meets Friendship—Right Where You Live
“For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I with them.” — Matthew 18:20
What Are Neighborhood Groups?
Neighborhood Groups are a new way for members and friends of the Cathedral to connect more deeply with one another—right in the communities where we live.
Led by trained Neighborhood Captains, these groups are made up of Cathedral members who live near each other. Whether you're a long-time member or brand new to the Cathedral, Neighborhood Groups provide an easy, low-pressure way to:
• Build friendships
• Stay connected to Cathedral life
• Support one another in prayer and care
• Gather occasionally for coffee, service projects, or fellowship
We believe that meaningful spiritual community doesn’t only happen on Sundays—it happens in the daily moments, conversations, and connections we share throughout the week. Neighborhood Groups bring the Cathedral’s spirit of hospitality beyond our walls and into the rhythms of everyday life.
Why Join a Neighborhood Group?
• Get to Know Others in your area
• Experience Belonging in a smaller setting
• Stay in the Loop with personal updates and event reminders
• Support and Be Supported — in joy and in need
• Build Community through shared interests or local gatherings
There’s no pressure, no big commitment. Just a simple invitation to connect more deeply with others who call the Cathedral home.
What Can I Expect?
Once you join a Neighborhood Group, you’ll be introduced to your Neighborhood Captain—a fellow Cathedral member who helps keep the group connected.
Your captain might:
• Send an occasional check-in or message
• Welcome you personally if you're new
• Let you know about upcoming Cathedral events
• Organize an optional gathering like a walk, coffee meet-up, or service opportunity
• Help connect you to ministries, guilds, or pastoral care if needed
Each group is a little different—some might gather more often than others. But every group shares the same goal: building a more connected, caring, and Christ-centered community.
How Do I Join?
It's simple—and it's open to everyone! You can opt in online by filling out this online form or speak to a member of the Cathedral clergy or staff. Once we receive your information, you’ll be connected to a Neighborhood Group based on where you live. If there’s no group yet in your area, you’ll be welcomed by one of our Captains At–Large — until we launch a group near you.
Questions? Contact Michael Roush or Rev. Michelle Robertshaw. We’d love to help you find your group and answer any questions you might have. Cathedral Neighborhood Groups are more than a new program—they're a chance to experience church as it was meant to be: welcoming, local, and full of grace. We can’t wait to connect with you—right in your neighborhood.
